Dear Search Committee,
Please find here my portfolio in application for the assistant professorship in composition at Stanford University.
The four works that I ask the committee to review first are: (1) When stranger things happen: monodrama for 9 players, lost objects, and electronics; (2) puddles and crumbs for trombone+electronics; (3) a video of a live performance of the structured improvisation 84.03 N 174.51 W / The Speculators; and (4) Movement IV from Diligence Is to Magic as Progress Is to Flight for violin solo and chamber orchestra.
I have provided the complete score for Diligence Is to Magic as Progress Is to Flight for reference and further context of the entire multi-movement work. Additionally for review, I have included the extracted performance details and video score with synchronized audio of a realization of Movement V, which is a structured improvisation, as well as the score and recording for the chamber piece like a halo.
Thank you for your consideration,
premiered October 20-22, 2017, by Amanda De Boer Bartlett. Katherine Young, and Ensemble Dal Niente at the Edge Theater, Chicago, IL
