for amplified flute, bass clarinet, cello, piano, percussion and electronics
To investigate relationships between silence, sound, spacialization, anticipation, and suspense, The Life You Save May Be Your Own uses audio from the first 2’38” of Sergio Leone’s 1968 film Once Upon a Time in the West as source material, zooming in and out and grafting aspects of this sonic envelope onto different musical parameters. Special thanks to Jenna Lyle and Dan Mohr. (2012)
